PREFACE.
THE Sketches now presented to the public appeared a year or two since in the columns of the "New Zealand Herald." Under the belief that "Memories of the Past" may be acceptable to old friends, and to my fellow colonists, I now publish them in pamphlet form. I hope on some future occasion to be able to add thereto other memories of " early days" in this city.
