The following letters were originally published in the New Zealand Herald. In the years 1874-1876 they were re-printed in the Auckland Church Gazette. As it is difficult, if not impossible, now to obtain the complete series of letters--as they appeared in those periodicals, the writer of them has been induced by some friends to re-print the letters in the present form. He trusts that the re-issue of them may increase the interest felt in the Maori race, and encourage some of his fellow-countrymen to take an active part in making known to them "the unsearchable riches of Christ."
