(Note:-- Receipts for rent. This was from the house that William Morgan had let when he left Auckland. On 24 May, 1867, he writes in his journal concerning this house, "That house, by the bye, has been somewhat good investment; for it has scarcely ever been empty, but has been let at sums varying from 8/- to 3/- a week."
When he returns to Pukekohe after the Maori War he speaks of two houses that he owns in Auckland. During June, 1866, he paid a visit to Auckland where he found one of the houses empty. "The rent of the other," he writes, "was paid up to the 9th." It is probable that when he was in Auckland in 1863-65 he acquired this other house.
In May, 1870, a brief entry states that he sold house for £120, but he doesn't state which house. A month later he sold an "allotment" in Wellesley Street for £85. "This same piece of land cost me £46 nearly 17 years ago," he wrote. "So that at the price I am selling it at, it has only paid 6 per cent. However, it might have been worse.")
